Usher’s Stepson Declared Brain Dead

This is a sad day for R&B singer Usher and his family. Usher’s 11-year-old stepson was struck while floating in an inner tube on Friday. He was declared brain dead on Sunday.

Kyle Glover is the son of Usher’s former wife Tameka Foster. Glover and a 15-year-old girl were struck by a man riding a jet ski. All three were part of a group having an outing at Lake Lanier in Atlanta. Source

Actress Katie Holmes has been spotted out and about in NYC this week with 6-year old Suri Cruise. Mom looks glum and Suri is surely missing her dad. Tom Cruise celebrated his 50th birthday on the 4th of July without them.

No one is talking but the media quotes the ever-reliable sources as saying that Mama Bear fled because Papa Bear wants Baby Bear to enroll in a Scientology boarding school. You don’t see Katie much without her daughter so we don’t see that happening.

Lauryn Hill Pleads Guilty

Hip-hop diva Lauryn Hill pleaded guilty to three tax evasion charges last Friday. She’s scheduled to be sentenced this November. The singer faces a maximum prison sentence of one year for each charge.

Ms. Hill said she had to “go underground” during the three years in question. This year she gave birth to her sixth child and looks none the worse for wear. We do hope this story has a happy ending. Source

It’s no rumor. Soulful singer Adele wants the world to know that she and partner Simon Konecki are expecting their first child together. The happy news was posted to Adele’s website on Friday. The post generated so much traffic that the site crashed. Source

Actress Katie Holmes stunned everyone on Friday when she announced through her lawyer that she’s divorcing actor Tom Cruise after five years of marriage. Holmes is requesting sole custody of their daughter Suri.

Tom Cruise was apparently blindsided by the news he received while working on a film set in Iceland. Divorce is never a happy thing, especially when there’s a child involved. We wish all the best for this family. Source

Just weeks after the birth of his baby girl Jack Osbourne found out that he has multiple sclerosis. Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne’s 26-year-old son said he felt sorry for himself at first but realized that doesn’t help the situation. His new motto is to “adapt and overcome.”

Lauryn Hill’s Income Tax Dilemma

Celebrities who neglect to pay income taxes may want to check with actor Wesley Snipes who remains in prison for same. Hip-hop diva Lauryn Hill is the latest celeb charged with failure to file an income tax return.

Federal court documents claim that Ms. Hill earned $1.8 million from recording and film industry royalties between 2005 – 2007; and they want their money. The mother of six does not deny nonpayment of taxes but says she went underground for personal safety during that time.

Ms. Hill could face up to one year in prison or a monetary fine.  Her attorney says she has been fully cooperating with the IRS investigation for several years. Source
