A relieved former Senator John Edwards addressed the press yesterday but took no questions after he was found “Not Guilty” on one of six charges against him. The judge declared a mistrial for the remaining charges after nine days of jury deliberation.
The disgraced 2008 presidential candidate was accused of accepting illegal campaign contributions. Edwards’ defense argued that nearly $750,000 from his contributor Rachel “Bunny” Mellon were intended to support his pregnant mistress Rielle Hunter and hide his second family from his wife Elizabeth Edwards who lost her battle to breast cancer in 2010.
