Radio Icon Hal Jackson Dies
The music world lost yet another icon yesterday with the passing of radio pioneer Hal Jackson. He was 96 years old. The South Carolina native hosted WBLS “Sunday Classics” until a few weeks ago.
Mr. Jackson had many firsts in his life. He and Percy Sutton founded Inner City Broadcasting in 1971, becoming the first black owners of a major radio network. They acquired WLIB-AM and WBLS-FM.
Hal Jackson married his second wife in 1987. She became his radio partner, and is known as Debi B. on “Sunday Classics.” Check the source link for the Daily News obituary. Source
